Sydney International Airport P7 Multi-Storey Carpark
Sydney Airport’s Masterplan required that this multi-storey carpark provided 2000 parking spaces and a heavy transport terminus zone at ground level. The use of a centralised helix ramp is a sophisticated solution to managing circulation which also introduced daylight into the heart of the large floor plates. To echo the language of existing carparks, a veil of transparent metal cladding drapes the entire construction; a tactic which provided natural ventilation and reduced the overall mass of the new structure. PV solar panels on the roof contribute to the environmental performance of the building. With a logical floorplan layout, the organisation of the floor plates yielded maximum car spaces with minimal area required as circulation zones.
