University of South Australia Sport Science Centre + Exercise Clinic
This small footprint project at UniSA’s City East Campus upgrades the School of Health Sciences infrastructure with a High-Performance Sport Science Centre and Exercise Physiology Clinic. Sports science research projects are offered here to honours and PhD students, together with an exercise physiology clinic for community use.
DesignInc refined the brief in collaboration with key stakeholders and academics to arrive at a central hub concept for the arrangement of services. An open plan exercise testing area, research areas with technology-based interactive learning, and an engaging shopfront reception area allow the work of testing, research and consultation to intersect, sharing knowledge between students, physiologists and patients.
While I have research to do, more than half my time is spent assisting strength coaches and physiotherapists in their daily tasks. I gain important applied skills while working in an environment which stimulates ideas and guides my research.
