Sydney Airport T1, P6 & P7 Multistorey Carparks

Sydney Airport T1, P6 & P7 Multistorey Carparks

In line with Sydney Airport’s master plan, additional parking facilities were required at the International Terminal. The P7 carpark is a clever design solution that is both functional and delightful. Delivered in two stages, the final carpark provides 3150 spaces over seven levels as well as a heavy transport terminus zone at ground level.

A central helix

The use of a centralised helix ramp is a sophisticated solution to managing circulation which also introduced daylight into the heart of the large floor plates. To echo the language of existing carparks, a veil of transparent metal cladding drapes the entire construction; a tactic which provided natural ventilation and reduced the overall mass of the new structure. PV solar panels on the roof contribute to the environmental performance of the building. With a logical floorplan layout, the organisation of the floor plates yielded maximum car spaces with minimal area required as circulation zones.
