Foveaux Street Student Housing
On a tight infill site, this new generation student boarding house fits 32 self-contained rooms over 5 levels, above its ground-floor café and communal spaces. Modelling of different internal options for this narrow, 250 m² site, yielded its highly efficient floor plate, using fire stairs as the main circulation spine, with a light well through the building that benefits the central café courtyard, primary circulation zone and rooms.
The building activates the frontages onto Foveaux Street and Belmore Lane with the internal planning of the building revolving around a generous light well providing light to a number of rooms and the primary circulation zone. The light well also serves as an open courtyard to the ground level café.
