The modernisation project at Reservoir Primary School emphasised a strong planning and consultation process to creatively combine contemporary and heritage elements of the existing school buildings. The design incorporates flexible learning environments that can support varied pedagogical approaches, learning preferences and educational activities; as well as biophilic design principles to improve student engagement, wellbeing and learning.

A key feature noted was the new STEAM hub with the primary teaching areas integrated with the science lab, art studio, and food technology lab which was co-located with the school’s library – these generative spaces provide opportunities for community access, inter-disciplinary planning and collaboration, presentations and display.

Overall, a vibrant and considered design that will provide an effective and exciting learning environment for current and future students.
