North West Rail Link

As part of a much larger design team, DesignInc are currently working on the Package 2 - North West Rail Link Design and Surface and Viaduct Civil Works.
The North West Rail Link is a project that will deliver a new high frequency single deck train system operating as a shuttle between Cudegegong Road and Chatswood. The project includes eight new stations, approximately 15.5km of tunnels from Epping to Bella Vista, a 4.5km elevated ‘skytrain’ (viaduct) between Bella Vista and Rouse Hill, and conversion of the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link to deliver high frequency rapid transit services.
DesignInc’s involvement is to develop the design of the viaduct including noise walls and elevated station platforms for 2 stations for Impregilo Salini JV. The project also comprises of a bridge structure spanning over proposed 8 lanes of a main arterial road.

DesignInc’s viaduct and bridge options were underpinned by the following key design objectives; innovative design, value, cost, whole of life performance, timing and constructability requirements.
The design of the viaducts and station platforms integrates structural and architectural elements to create a high quality, simple and elegant piece of civic infrastructure that relates to its existing and future environment, clearly expressing the identity of the North West Rail Link.
DesignInc’s design solution maintains an elegant, consistent structure with an integrated family of elements within the urban setting and is a defining feature within the surrounding natural environment. A viaduct that is visually light and slender which promotes the activation of the linear park; a beautiful viaduct that is proportionally elegant sitting comfortably within its context across the numerous variations in height along the full alignment.
Due to be completer in 2019.
