The Campbelltown Leisure Centre was built in 1969 and comprises three multipurpose courts (basketball, netball, badminton, volleyball and soccer), a dance studio, gymnasium, rehabilitation gym, community meeting room, kiosk and administrative and amenity areas.
Campbelltown City Council engaged DesignInc to redevelop and expand the Leisure Centre to ensure it continues to provide adequate recreation and sporting opportunities for local residents.
The $24 million centre will feature high quality basketball facilities with significant spectator seating, an improved kiosk and café, improved and expanded changing facilities and toilets, multipurpose community meeting rooms, a purpose built gymnasium, aerobics/dance rooms, storage areas, a 25x lane pool, a 15x15m learn-to-swim pool and six squash courts.
The proposed upgrade will significantly increase the range of sport, recreational and community activities on offer and is anticipated to increase visits from 8,000 to 20,000 people per month.
