The Bank Street Housing development consists of 40 one-bedroom apartments and is planned around a central courtyard with single loaded units to open covered walkways. Units with north facing living and outdoor spaces and opportunities for cross ventilation were maximised.
Sustainable design solutions include passive solar to minimise energy demand, a centralised gas boosted solar hot water system and rainwater harvesting for irrigation and toilet flushing.
Design for social sustainability includes landscape design with raised planter beds for residents to develop vegetable gardens, landscaped public open space and shared services and amenity.
