BAE Systems Large Titanium Machining Facility

DesignInc was engaged by BAE Systems as the lead consultant to undertake a feasibility study, and provide detailed design, documentation and superintendent services, to produce a manufacturing hall suitable for machining precision titanium aircraft componentry.
Situated adjacent to BAE Systems’ existing machining facilities on a brownfield site, the new Joint Strike Fighter machine hall will provide BAE Systems with a world-class advanced manufacturing facility.
This state-of-the-art facility is set to become a showcase project for the Australian Federal Government defence manufacturing programme and BAE Systems Australia. It features mechanical systems similar to those contained within a clean facility, fire suppression capabilities, ITAR level defence security, intensive electrical infrastructure and a lightning protection system.
Despite the project requiring the coordination of a broad range of specialist consultants and construction input it was completed on time and on budget.
