This project is designed to service the needs of administrative and technical staff at the BAE Systems Maritime facility in Western Australia.
The design adheres to specific Federal Government mandated security requirements while ensuring staff within the building have a clear view of the adjacent ship yard and dock area.
External building materials have been selected to suit the corrosive marine environment and provide a ‘splash of colour’ in an otherwise industrial setting. The interior palette reflects a warm inviting workplace with touches of plywood and soft furnishings.
One of the major drivers of the Henderson design was the need to bring individual teams together in an interactive environment, encouraging cross collaboration for a more dynamic workplace.
The design responds to this in the way of central layoff benches which act as informal meeting points and storage spaces, meeting rooms with operable walls to facilitate flexible training facilities, and an open plan layout with direct access to both the ship yard and external courtyard areas.
