The Australian Red Cross Blood Service commissioned DesignInc to create a standardised detailed design for all future Blood Donor Centres.
The Blood Service currently operate about 90 donor centres nationally. Each centre has a differing appearance and functions under varying conditions and standards. This is partially a legacy of when each state operated its own blood service.
The project sought to identify and capture the critical components of these facilities into a single comprehensive design. This sets a national standard and consistency in appearance and process that will be utilised for future fit outs and refurbishments.
The design is manipulated to suit varying site sizes and site conditions nationally however the principles of design and the overall look and feel remain consistent. The roll out will take between 5 and 8 years to complete.
