Revised Development Approval was achieved for the change of use to allow a boutique upmarket food arcade to be included in the new $65m DoubleTree Hilton & Apartments, Fremantle development. Building work is expected to commence on site during the 4th quarter 2015.
The 6 storey hotel/commercial/residential development is located on Point Street in historic Fremantle, adjacent the centre of Fremantle in a dynamic area undergoing revitalisation and urban renewal.
The development was approved in late 2014 and comprises of 150 hotel bedrooms and associated hotel facilities, 98 residential apartments (1, 2 and 3 bedrooms) and retail space.
The project aims to create a high quality local landmark for this part of the Fremantle whilst being cognisant of the use of contemporary building materials that respect the local heritage/architectural context. It also aims to achieve a positive response to environmental sustainability issues and key urban design issues such as street activation and quality of public spaces.
The hotel will be a Hilton Hotel under its fourstar DoubleTree label and will bring much needed high quality hotel accommodation to the City of Fremantle.
